Lab-grown diamond engagement rings: the Laveran guide
A Laveran engagement ring is a real diamond, grown in a laboratory rather than mined, IGI or GIA certified and set in 18-carat gold or platinum. For the same size and quality, a lab-grown diamond costs up to 80% less than a natural diamond: your budget goes into the stone you truly love.
How much does a lab-grown diamond engagement ring cost?
- From €880: a solitaire with a 0.30 ct diamond in H/VS2 quality.
- From €1,744: a plain-band solitaire with a 1-carat diamond, IGI or GIA certified.
- The price then varies with carat, shape, quality (H/VS2, F/VS1 or D/VVS1) and model. Platinum is the same price as gold.
Payment in instalments is available with Alma. For detailed prices, read our guide how much does a lab-grown diamond cost.
Lab-grown diamond, natural diamond or moissanite?
- A lab-grown diamond is pure carbon, just like a natural diamond: same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale), same brilliance, same optical properties. Only its origin differs.
- A natural diamond looks identical to the eye and under a loupe, but is much more expensive for the same size and quality.
- Moissanite is a different stone (silicon carbide), slightly less hard and with more colourful flashes. It costs less, but it is not a diamond.
To compare in detail: lab-grown diamond or moissanite and lab-grown or natural diamond.
Which shape and which model?
The round diamond remains the most brilliant; oval and pear shapes visually elongate the finger; cushion and emerald cuts bring a more vintage look. Among our signature models: the Montaigne 6-prong ring, the Opéra solitaire, the Vendôme ring and the Palais Royal ring. Every model is available in 18-carat yellow, white or rose gold and in platinum.

Frequently asked questions
A full eternity band is set with diamonds around its entire circumference, for maximum brilliance; a half-eternity band is set only across the visible half — more discreet, more comfortable to wear and more accessible. Both are available in our collections.
A slim band (1.5 to 2 mm) stays discreet and pairs well with a solitaire; a width of 2.5 to 3.5 mm gives the diamonds a stronger presence. Our experts advise you in the showroom based on your engagement ring and the shape of your hand.

Frequently asked questions about lab-grown diamonds
Yes. It is crystallized carbon, exactly like a mined diamond: same hardness, same brilliance, same fire. Only its origin differs.
Only in its origin: one formed underground over millions of years, the other is grown in a few weeks. To the eye and under a loupe they are indistinguishable — but the lab-grown diamond is more ethical and more accessible.
Using two processes: HPHT (high pressure, high temperature) and CVD (chemical vapor deposition). Both produce real diamonds from a carbon seed.
Yes, it is a certified precious stone. Its price is 30 to 70% lower than an equivalent natural diamond, which means a larger or purer stone for the same budget.
It is impossible with the naked eye or a standard microscope. Only specially equipped laboratories (IGI, GIA) can identify it. Every certified stone bears a laser micro-inscription and a certificate number.
It depends on the 4Cs. At Laveran, a solitaire ring starts at around €880. At equal carat and quality, it costs significantly less than a natural diamond.
Yes, every Laveran diamond is delivered with its IGI or GIA certificate, precisely attesting to its 4Cs.
Warm soapy water, a soft brush, a rinse and a soft cloth. Avoid chemicals and have the setting checked once a year.
