Is a lab-grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. It is made of crystallized carbon, exactly like a mined diamond, and shares the same physical, chemical and optical properties. The IGI and GIA gemological laboratories certify it against the same criteria as natural diamonds.
How does it differ from a natural diamond?
The only difference is its origin: a lab-grown diamond is created in a few weeks in a controlled environment that reproduces natural conditions, whereas a mined diamond forms underground over millions of years. Appearance, hardness and durability are identical.
Is it less expensive than a mined diamond?
For equivalent characteristics (carat, color, clarity, cut), a lab-grown diamond is generally 30 to 40% less expensive, because its supply chain is shorter and free of intermediaries.
