Do you dream of a one-of-a-kind ring, born of your imagination and set with an ethical, certified lab-grown diamond? At Laveran Paris, bespoke creation is not a luxury reserved for a select few: it is an accessible service, guided step by step by our expert jewelers. In this article, we explain everything you need to know to bring your bespoke lab-grown diamond ring project to life.
Why choose a bespoke ring with a lab-grown diamond?
Creating your own bespoke ring is much more than choosing a design from a catalog. It means bringing to life a piece that reflects who you are, tells your story and fits your style, your budget and your values perfectly.
The lab-grown diamond: an identical stone, a responsible approach
A lab-grown diamond is chemically, physically and optically identical to a natural diamond mined from the earth. It is created by reproducing, in a controlled way, the pressure and temperature conditions that form diamonds in the Earth's mantle. The result: a stone of exceptional purity, certified by international laboratories (GIA, IGI, HRD), with none of the environmental impact of mining.
Choosing a bespoke lab-grown diamond ring therefore means combining elegance, ethics and budget savvy. At equal quality, a lab-grown diamond costs on average 40 to 70% less than a mined diamond, giving you access to a larger or higher-quality stone for the same budget.
If you would like to better understand the characteristics that set stones apart, our diamond guide walks you through the 4Cs: carat, color, clarity and cut.
Why bespoke rather than a ring from the collection?
A collection ring, however beautiful, remains standardized. Bespoke lets you:
- Precisely adapt the shape of the head to the shape of your finger
- Choose a specific metal (white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, platinum)
- Combine several aesthetic influences (vintage, contemporary, minimalist…)
- Incorporate personal elements (engraved initials, side stones, motifs)
- Control your budget at every step
The bespoke creation process at Laveran Paris in 5 steps
Our bespoke workshop was designed to make creating your ring a calm and inspiring experience, even if you only have a vague idea of what you want.
Step 1 — The initial consultation: understanding your project
It all begins with an in-depth conversation with one of our diamond experts. During this appointment — in one of our 10 showrooms in France or remotely by video call — we take the time to listen to you: your tastes, your inspirations, your lifestyle and, of course, your budget.
You don't need to arrive with a precise plan. A Pinterest photo, a vague memory of a ring you admired, or even just a feeling is enough. Our role is to translate your ideas into a concrete jewelry project.

Step 2 — Design and sketches
Once we have a clear sense of what you want, our jewelers produce sketches and 3D renderings of your future ring. This design stage is essential: it lets you visualize the final result before a single stone is set or any metal is cast.
We work iteratively: you react to the proposals, we adjust, until the design matches exactly what you imagine. No decision is final until you have explicitly approved it.
Step 3 — Choosing the lab-grown diamond
This is often the most memorable step for our clients. Together, we select the lab-grown diamond that will bring your ring to life, according to the 4Cs:
- Carat: the weight and size of the stone
- Color: from D (completely colorless) to Z (slightly tinted); the vast majority of our clients choose stones between D and G
- Clarity: the presence or absence of visible inclusions
- Cut: the stone's proportions, which determine its brilliance (round brilliant, cushion, oval, pear, emerald…)
Every diamond selected comes with an international certificate (GIA, IGI or HRD) guaranteeing its characteristics. You can learn more about how to choose the right lab-grown diamond for your engagement ring in our dedicated guide.
Step 4 — Handcrafting
Your ring is made in our workshops, in the purest tradition of French fine jewelry. Our artisans work with the noble materials you have chosen: 18k gold (white, yellow or rose) or platinum, paired with your certified lab-grown diamond.
Making the ring generally takes between 3 and 6 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design. If you wish, you can be kept informed of your order's progress at each key stage.
Step 5 — Delivery and aftercare
Your ring is presented to you in its case, together with your diamond's certificate and a warranty on the setting. At Laveran Paris, we also offer a care and cleaning service after delivery so your piece keeps all its brilliance over time.

What budget should you plan for a bespoke lab-grown diamond ring?
One of the great advantages of lab-grown diamonds is precisely that they allow very precise budget control. Contrary to popular belief, creating a bespoke ring is not necessarily more expensive than buying a ring from the collection.
The final price depends on three main factors:
The center diamond: this represents the largest share of the budget. A 1-carat lab-grown diamond, F color, VS1 clarity, round brilliant cut, IGI certified, will cost you a fraction of the price of a natural equivalent.
The setting and the metal: 18k white gold, yellow gold, rose gold or platinum are offered at the same price at Laveran Paris. The complexity of the setting (pavé, prongs, fluting) also affects the cost of making the ring.
The level of customization: a simple modification of an existing design from our engagement rings is more affordable than an entirely original creation.
Our prices are direct, with no middlemen. You therefore enjoy the best value for money on the market.
Which projects call for a bespoke ring?
Bespoke creation is not just for engagement rings. Our clients come to us for many occasions:
The engagement ring naturally remains the most common project. Creating the ring that will mark this unique moment is a deeply symbolic undertaking, and bespoke gives it an even more personal dimension.
The wedding band can also be personalized, notably to match the engagement ring or to incorporate side diamonds. Explore our selection of diamond wedding bands for inspiration.
A personal collection ring to treat yourself, celebrate an anniversary or mark an important milestone in your life.
The PACS ring (for a French civil union) is increasingly in demand. Our clients want a piece that symbolizes their commitment without necessarily following the traditional conventions of an engagement.

FAQ — Your questions about bespoke lab-grown diamond rings
What is the difference between a lab-grown diamond and a natural diamond?
A lab-grown diamond has the same chemical composition (pure crystallized carbon), the same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale) and the same brilliance as a natural diamond. The only difference lies in its origin: it is created in a laboratory in a few weeks, rather than over millions of years underground. It is certified by the same organizations (GIA, IGI, HRD) and is indistinguishable to the naked eye.
How long does it take to create a bespoke ring at Laveran Paris?
The average lead time is 4 to 6 weeks from final approval of the design and choice of diamond. Shorter lead times are sometimes possible depending on the level of customization and the complexity of the design. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have a deadline.
Do I need to know my ring size before I start?
No, you don't need to know your size from the outset. We will help you determine it. You can also consult our guide to finding your ring size for an initial estimate.
Is a bespoke ring more expensive than a ring from the collection?
Not necessarily. When it comes to customizing an existing design, the extra cost is often minimal. For an entirely original creation, the price varies with the complexity and the materials chosen. In every case, our prices with no middlemen guarantee you the best value for money on the market.
Can you create a bespoke ring remotely?
Yes, absolutely. We work with clients throughout France and internationally through video-call appointments. Sketches and 3D renderings are shared digitally, and delivery is provided throughout France (and internationally on request) free of charge and fully secured.
Is the lab-grown diamond certified?
Yes, all the lab-grown diamonds we select for our bespoke creations are certified by leading international laboratories: GIA (Gemological Institute of America), IGI (International Gemological Institute) or HRD (Hoge Raad voor Diamant). This certificate guarantees all of your stone's characteristics.
Can a bespoke ring be modified or resized after delivery?
Some modifications remain possible after delivery (resizing, adding an engraving, reinforcing prongs). Major structural modifications, however, are more complex and must be assessed case by case with our workshop.
